Service to Success is supporting a leading defense technology company hiring Forward Deployed Software Engineers for a highly customer-facing engineering role supporting defense and national security customers.
This role is embedded on small, high-ownership teams that operate like startups for specific customers. You will work directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand mission needs, determine which technologies should be deployed, and own the end-to-end execution required to make those systems successful in real-world operational environments.
The software is deployed into compact, on-premise form factors, sometimes as small as a single server blade, and often in air-gapped, resource-constrained, and forward-deployed environments. This creates complex engineering challenges around system performance, resource allocation, monitoring, reliability, security, and remote support when hands-on access is limited or unavailable.
You will deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and support mission-critical software systems that move with customer operations around the world. This includes debugging network and systems issues, reviewing monitors and alerts, managing configuration, supporting container orchestration, conducting upgrades, and ensuring systems remain reliable in demanding operational environments.
This role is ideal for engineers who are highly independent, comfortable working across hardware, software, infrastructure, and customer operations, and excited to solve complex technical problems in mission-critical environments.
