About This Role

Service to Success is supporting a rapidly growing defense technology company building next-generation command and control software for autonomous systems operating in real-world environments. The team develops mission-critical software that helps operators manage sensors, autonomous platforms, AI systems, and operational data in support of defense and national security missions. Their technology is deployed in real-world environments where reliability, speed, and usability directly impact mission success. You'll join a newly formed, high-visibility team working alongside experts in autonomy, robotics, sensing, AI, and defense systems. This is an opportunity to have outsized impact early, work directly with end users, and build software that is actively deployed in operational environments.

Compensation: $135,000 - $200,000 Base + Equity + Comprehensive Benefits

The Role

Despite the title, this is a frontend-first engineering role. The team is looking for engineers who genuinely enjoy building user interfaces, solving difficult UX challenges, and creating intuitive experiences for highly technical users operating in complex environments. You will build the command and control interfaces used to manage autonomous systems, visualize real-time sensor and operational data, and support critical decision-making.

What You'll Work On

  • Build modern React and TypeScript applications used to command and control autonomous systems
  • Design highly interactive interfaces that visualize real-time operational, sensor, tracking, and mission data
  • Develop user experiences that help operators understand and manage complex environments
  • Integrate frontend applications with autonomy platforms, AI systems, sensors, and backend services
  • Work with streaming, real-time, and event-driven data sources
  • Deploy and support software across cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments
  • Collaborate closely with robotics, autonomy, AI, and systems engineering teams
  • Help bring new capabilities from concept to deployment in operational environments

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong React and TypeScript experience
  • Frontend development should be the primary focus of your background
  • Experience building highly interactive applications, not just traditional CRUD or dashboard software
  • Experience working with real-time, streaming, simulation, sensor, geospatial, operational, or tracking data
  • Strong understanding of frontend architecture, state management, performance optimization, and user experience
  • Experience integrating APIs and production systems into frontend applications
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-moving environments
  • Active U.S. security clearance or ability to obtain one
  • Willingness to travel up to 25-75% depending on project requirements

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience supporting drones, autonomous systems, robotics, self-driving systems, or defense technology products
  • Experience with Three.js, WebGL, geospatial visualization, mapping platforms, or advanced visualization frameworks
  • Experience visualizing real-time sensor, telemetry, tracking, simulation, or mission data
  • Experience building software for operators in mission-critical environments
  • Prior defense, autonomy, robotics, aerospace, or national security experience
