Senior Vulnerability Researcher

Description

Our client is seeking a Senior Security Researcher to lead advanced vulnerability research and exploit development across complex systems, including operating systems, kernels, firmware, hypervisors, embedded platforms, and application stacks. This role is ideal for someone who can independently investigate ambiguous attack surfaces, perform deep reverse engineering, and produce high-impact technical findings that influence security decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced vulnerability research efforts across complex software, firmware, and embedded systems
• Scope, plan, and execute research projects from initial hypothesis through validated findings
• Perform deep reverse engineering, binary analysis, and exploit development across multiple architectures
• Identify real-world weaknesses in modern defense mechanisms and evaluate potential mitigations
• Analyze low-level system behavior and develop tools or workflows to support research objectives
• Collaborate with other senior researchers to shape technical direction and review complex work
• Present research findings clearly to internal stakeholders and customers
• Contribute to a strong research culture through mentorship, documentation, and process improvements

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on vulnerability research and exploit development experience
• Active U.S. Top Secret clearance, with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI SAP
• Experience researching and exploiting complex systems such as operating systems, kernels, firmware, hypervisors, embedded platforms, or complex application stacks
• Strong reverse engineering skills, including in-memory analysis of compiled binaries
• Experience working across architectures such as x86/x64, ARM, or PowerPC
• Ability to independently scope ambiguous or underexplored attack surfaces with minimal guidance
• Experience designing, testing, and evaluating novel exploitation techniques and modern mitigation defenses
• Ability to analyze undocumented or partially documented system behavior
• Experience building or extending internal tooling, interfaces, or workflows to support research goals
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate low-level technical findings into clear, actionable insights
• Interest in mentoring, knowledge sharing, and helping raise the technical bar across a senior research team
